The Palisades Unit at Paces Mill renovation will take a holistic approach to enhancing the visitor experience. The project will modernize park amenities that support more than 270,000 visitors each year, as well as deepen educational opportunities, improve access to and ease of use for the park, and create sustainable practices that will preserve this natural resource for generations to come. We appreciate the ongoing partnership of One Cumberland and the Cumberland CID to make this possible.”

These upgrades to the Park Unit will be the first time the Unit has been renovated since the 1970’s. Our community supports these enhancements, and the investments will continue to build on the NPS’s legacy of conserving the unimpaired natural and cultural resources today and for generations to come.

The existing facilities at the Paces Mill/Palisades Unit suffer from years of low-level maintenance and lack of upgrades and are not sufficient to meet the growing park user’s needs…The upgrades proposed by the CCID will directly address the issues above…This investment will have an excellent return on our community and region.

The Paces Mill/Palisades Rehabilitation will create greater opportunities for wellness, recreation, and the outdoors. Greenspace is limited in the metro Atlanta area and the 840 acres of national parkland the CRNRA provides to Cumberland serves as a benefit to those seeking exercise, mental rejuvenation, and solitude. The rehabilitation helps preserve this type of wellness for our community and region.
