Discover New Day Palisades
New Day Palisades is an inspired $15.8 million project of One Cumberland, the Cumberland Community Improvement District (CCID), and the National Park Service. Together, we will restore, enhance, and rehabilitate the Paces Mill in the Palisades Unit, a 22-acre tranquil greenspace along the Chattahoochee River.

Why does Paces Mill need rehabilitation?
The CRNRA’s Paces Mill joined the National Park Service in 1978 as a naturalistic escape from urban infrastructure. While the fun always flows, the area has seen very few improvements. As this sanctuary continues to rise in popularity, welcoming 270,000+ visitors each year, the need for adequate parking, environmental protection, improved facilities, and enhanced river access has never been greater.
The Renewal
Beginning October 2, Paces Mill will close for construction to begin the renewal and Phase One
of New Day Palisades. The anticipated completion
will be in spring 2025. Phase Two is planned for fall
2026. Navigate to the Visit page for a list of nearby
parks, trails, and must-see riverscapes to
visit during this time.

“The Cumberland CID does a great job leveraging dollars into successful projects that have made this community thrive and prosper. [It] created an environment where people like us said, ‘That’s where we want to be.’ “
